Magnolia Junior High vs. Lynn Lucas

The boys got another win last night against Lynn Lucas. They won 8-6. Kevin said there was a lot of stripping balls and running back and forth down the court, but a win is a win! Our team's star player will be out for several weeks with a broken thumb, but I'm sure the other boys will be trying hard to win for him. We were supposed to go to a tournament in Huntsville this weekend, but it looks like we won't be making the trip because of snow!

Magnolia Junior High vs. Peet

Well, luck held out! Magnolia Junior High won against Peet Junior High 25-20 Thursday night. Trevor and Doyle said the game was great. I don't have any pictures to show because Morgan and I didn't make it since she didn't get out of Art Club until 4:45. In two weeks we travel to Lynn Lucas in Willis. I'm sure it will be a great game, too!

Trevor's First Junior High Basketball Game

Trevor started basketball last week and they had their first game against Shultz Junior High School in Waller Thursday night. It was a great game. They beat Waller in triple overtime 20-18. Would you believe Trevor was the tallest kid on the basketball court?
This is the half time pep talk!

Waller had a kid that kept hitting 3 point shots. They would come back and tie the game in the last few seconds of the game. A good friend of Trevor's made the winning shot during the last overtime. Everybody held their breath as the ball flew into the basket. What a great way to start the season. They travel to Conroe this week. I hope their luck holds out!

Morgan's Soccer Game

We are almost done with soccer for the Fall season and I FINALLY remembered to take my camera along to the game. I got a few cute action shots. Her team is doing really well this season and we've had a lot of fun playing with the other kids.

Sometimes it helps to talk to yourself on the soccer field!

I don't think she enjoys being goalie - it gets kind of boring down there sometimes!

One of her best friends was on the team she played yesterday! Smiles are exchanged even when they are on the soccer field!

Maybe I'll remember my camera next Saturday, too!

Kevin's Hunting Adventure

Kevin had a chance to go on a great hunting trip last weekend. Check out these pictures!

Hog Hunting

Trevor and Kevin got to spend some time at the deer lease this weekend. Trevor killed a wild hog with his bow and arrow. I'm not sure whose smile is bigger!

It's not the prettiest animal, is it?

Meet the Pool Boy

With a new pool, you get new responsiblities. We have been trying to explain that to Trevor! He had a little mishap with the 4-wheeler a couple of weeks ago and has had to learn that the hard way. He has invoices that he owes us money for, so he has been picking up odd jobs around the house. Our pool guy came out the other day and had to do a little clean up on our plaster. We have to brush the pool out for the next few days, so guess who got the job? TREVOR!!!! So--- I'd like for you to meet my new pool boy! He definitely has his own way of doing things!

My cat has adjusted to the new addition outside very well. He still likes to watch for frogs and I think one day he'll take a little swim! (Yeah, right!)

Oh, one other thing! For all of our family that can't carry a tune - Morgan has joined the choir at school. Look for some cute pictures soon!

What's Happening in our World

With everything that's been going on with my dad, its been really hard for me to sit down and upate our blog. Most of our time has been spent at the hospital and just trying to keep things going at home. Our pool is done and the kids have been really enjoying it. They swim almost every day. We are working on landscaping and trying to get everything finished up.

Morgan got a new job yesterday. Helping her daddy around the house. She got to drive the Ranger and loved every minute of it!

Here's a picture of our FINISHED pool. We are hoping to have our landscaping done in the next few weeks and then we will really be able to enjoy our backyard.

Kevin and the kids got to enjoy a nighttime swim last night. They had a great time jumping into the deep end.

On a final note, I had to share this awesome picture that was taken by Bill at the Kennedy Ranch.

Not Finished, Yet

We had workers here yesterday to start the plaster thinking we would have water in our pool yesterday afternoon. They didn't get finished, so we are still waiting. They will be back today to plaster the hot tub and acid wash everything. We should start filling up later today and hope to be swimming tomorrow!
We've had some great guys working on the pool. This is our plaster guy. I had a chance to talk with him yesterday before they left and he is a very interesting man. He has a son that graduated from Harvard and a daughter that is currently at MIT. You just never know who you will meet in life.

We may not have water in our pool, yet, but we had our first "guest" this morning.

My poor cat has been a real trooper through this whole project. He gets a very strange look on his face when workers pull up in the driveway and seems to disappear during the day. I'm not sure how he's going to react when the pool has water in it.

Hopefully, I'll be posting pictures of the kids playing in the pool tomorrow or Monday!

Almost Done

Our pool project is amost done. We had workers here today putting the pea gravel in for the decking and the plaster guy will be here tomorrow to clean the pool out. They will start plastering Friday morning. We should be swimming sometime this weekend. We've had a great time and we are really looking forward to finally being in our new pool!

We're Getting Closer

We're getting closer to the end of our pool project. The tile is up and the rock work is almost finished. They should finish up with the flagstone around the spa today. The electrician was here yesterday. The deck will probably be started today. We may even be swimming by next weekend!!!! Trevor and Morgan are pretty excited.

Kennedy Ranch Trip

Kevin, Trevor, Mike and Nic took off for Kennedy Ranch Friday morning. They took some great pictures while they were there.

Trevor and Nic got to scope things out from the front of the hunting truck!

I see trophy bucks in our future!

We Have Gunite

Pool construction is moving right along - we have gunite and plumbing. We had tile/rock guys here Friday and they should be back tomorrow. The electrician will be here Tuesday.

We wanted to make sure it was deep enough for Trevor to dive!

I don't think Morgan will have any problems.

We are hoping to be swimming by Labor Day!

Trevor's Glasses

When I took Trevor to the doctor for his physical a few weeks ago, he had some trouble with the eye test. The nurse suggested I take him to an eye doctor to have his eyes checked. He had his appointment last week and yes, he needed glasses. We went to Eyemasters today while Morgan was at Vacation Bible School to pick out some frames. I think he looks really good in his new glasses AND, he's admitted that he can see better!

Morgan did great on her eye test, but she wants to wear glasses because they had some really cool frames at Eyemasters!

Construction Has Started!

Pool construction started around 6:45 a.m. Friday morning. We were so excited to see the guys and their tractor get started. Things went really well until mid morning!

How do you make it rain? Sign a pool contract! The rain started and we had about 3 feet of water in our pool. Good news?! It holds water.

So, out came the pumps. Kevin and Trevor helped them get all of the water out and they worked until around 7:30 p.m. Friday night. They did a great job!

We got another early start Saturday morning. We had workers at our house at 6:00 a.m. ready to start putting the rebar in.

They finished up around 11:00 a.m. The plumbing should get started today and they are hoping to gunite tomorrow. It should look like a pool by tomorrow afternoon!

We're Taking the Plunge

It doesn't look like much right now, but we've decided to take the plunge (literally!!!). Construction starts on our pool tomorrow morning around 7:30 a.m. Construction should be done in about 4 weeks. We are so excited! I'll be posting more pictures soon.

Monday!

Trevor had a great time at Fishing Camp last week and was very glad to get home Saturday night. We picked him up Saturday morning, hung out in Industry for the day and then went to the Firemen's Feast Saturday night. You just can't beat that great barbecue!

We had a little excitement this afternoon. Trevor was practicing at his 3D targets with a bow and some broadhead arrows. He got an arrow stuck in his target, went around to the front of the target to pull it out, looked d0wn and noticed that he had an arrow stuck in his right leg. He lost quite a bit of blood and needed a few stitches and some staples, but should be just fine. We go back in 10 days to have the staples removed. Just another day at my house! I'm just very glad he is going to be okay.

Trevor Goes to Camp

We took Trevor to Fishing Camp at Stoney Creek in Columbus today.

He'll get to jump off the Blob!

He's staying in the Lamar Cabin. He called us tonight and could only talk for a few minutes because they were having a pillow fight!

Morgan got to meet Papa Tommy's donkeys today. She thought she could teach them a few lessons. They didn't want to listen!

Look What Was In My Yard

I looked outside this morning around 7:00 a.m. and noticed the two fawns hanging out in my backyard. A few minutes later, Mom and Dad showed up. They didn't stick around long after I walked outside. Maybe they'll be back tomorrow. They really like my roses!

July 4th Weekend

We had a great 4th of July weekend! We decided to spend part of our weekend at Lake Conroe, so we packed up Thursday afternoon after Kevin got home from work. We stayed in the U.S. Pipeline motor home and borrowed Mr. Jerry's boat so the kids could do a little tubing.
Trevor got to go first. His biggest complaint is that he doesn't fit in the tube anymore.

Then it was Morgan's turn. I think we pulled her around the lake at least two times and she still didn't want to get out. We had a great time until our tube busted. I've got instructions from my kids to find a new tube fast!

Look at this great view that we had before the fireworks started. I think it would be great to see this every night!

We came home Saturday morning because the wind was blowing and the water was really choppy. We also figured there would be LOTS of people on the lake for 4th of July.
Later, the Browns invited us over for barbecue and swimming. Trevor really likes the waterfall from the jacuzzi.

Morgan worked on her diving skills.

Hope everyone had a great 4th of July!
